Graphics Cards
No particular graphic card brand or
graphic card type is required to use XdTV.
But your graphic card must have, at
least, 4MB video RAM. XdTV will work correctly with 8 MB video
RAM.
I suggest you to get a graphic card which support Xv extensions and
XFree86 4.X /X.org 6.x version. Nevertheless XdTV works also with
XFree86
3.3.6.
Here are some graphics cards
brands/models which provide some good results with XdTV and which
support Xv extensions:
- 3DFX Voodoo 3, 4, 5 and Banshee (3dfx
driver works with XFree86 4.03 version and higher).
- nVidia GeForce (Xv extensions work
with this nVidia driver : http://www.nvidia.com/ This driver is not
free but it seems to be better than the free one which can be found
into
XFree86 4.1 package)
- nVidia TNT, TNT2 (Simple, Ultra and
PRO) and TNT1 (Xv extensions work with this
nVidia driver : http://www.nvidia.com/
This driver is not free but it seems to be better that the free one
which can be found into XFree86 4.1 package)
- GeForce (Simple, DDR, 2GTS, 2 MX, 2 MX
DualHead, 2 PRO, 2 Ultra, 3) and SDR
- ATI cards (Xv extensions seems to work
on Ati Rage 128, PRO, Radeon, Mobility, some of All in Wonder
cards and cards with Mach64 chipset. ATI propose us some close source
drivers: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
- Matrox Gx00 cards (G200, G400, G450,
G550) Xv extensions can be found into XFree86 4.x
- Intel i810 and i815 Xv extensions can be found into
XFree86 4.x
- Trident cards (Blade and Image Series
familly)
- Silicon Integrated System (SiS) cards
This list is non
exhaustive. To know if your card supports Xv extensions, you have to
launch this command into a shell: xvinfo ( See Here)
